My Favorite (Wedding) Things

Right, so I'm getting married. And I thought I'd post about the process of planning the day during which I am to be married, but that didn't exactly happen. I will now share with you some of my favorite details of the day.

First things first. I never particularly imagined my wedding day or what it would be like, what colors I'd use, etc., etc. Perhaps the one exception to the foregoing statement is that I wanted a dress that looked like the one Audrey Hepburn wore to the Embassy Ball in My Fair Lady. Sadly, I do not have a giraffe's neck or a 20 inch waist, so that wasn't particularly doable for me. One thing I did have picked out long before I met my groom was my save the date. My Aunt Kate found it for me in Town and Country weddings while I was in college (therefore more than half a decade before I even met the boy). Upon returning from Paris, the first thing I did was contact the artist who did our save the dates. Here they are in all their awesomeness. Note this is a draft, I don't have anything but a pdf of the final version - but those of you who are invited have seen them. Even the boy's friends liked them and commented on them. When 30 something year old MEN comment on paper, you know you've done something right ;)

Second.... oh my shoes. How I love thee. On days when I'm annoyed with the boy for watching the Wrath of Khan for the billionth time, I love you more than I love the boy. You are practically perfect in every way. Least of all because you make me less "Eva Longoria to Tony Parker" to the boy. I have loved you since the moment I saw you in the Bergdorf's window. I'll remember the walk from Central Park to the karaoke bar forever. A week later, you were mine. I have been too frightened to wear you yet as you are delicate and satin and I have perpetual nightmares about some evil cab driver splashing nasty city water on your perfection before the wedding. Let's just say after the wedding, I'll display you proudly often, like a champion showdog. And although we are leaving our dear Sassy Cat behind while we travel to the riviera and Paris, you my darlings are jet setting with us!
